UAE Introduces Mandatory E-Invoicing for VAT-Registered Businesses

The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) is launching mandatory e-invoicing for all VAT-registered businesses, starting Q4 2024 and fully in effect by July 2026.

Built on the global PEPPOL 5-corner model, the system requires businesses to issue, receive, and report invoices in a structured electronic format. Traditional formats like PDFs, Word files, or scanned images will not be accepted as valid e-invoices.

Key Benefits:

  • Real-time invoice exchange with the FTA
  • Enhanced tax compliance and transparency
  • Reduced manual errors and fraud risks
  • Seamless integration with accounting systems

Businesses should begin preparing by upgrading their systems and aligning with FTA guidelines.
