In a significant development marking a new chapter in Pakistan–United Arab Emirates bilateral relations, a mutual visa waiver agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders has officially come into effect as of July 25, 2025, at all international airports across both nations.
The announcement was confirmed by Senator Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, who shared that the implementation follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 24, 2025, in Abu Dhabi during his meeting with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the UAE.
According to the MoU, the mutual visa waiver became operational 30 days after signing, offering ease of travel for government officials and diplomats, and further fostering bilateral collaboration in diplomacy, trade, investment, and regional affairs.
Key Highlights of the Agreement:
- Holders of diplomatic and official Pakistani passports can now enter the UAE without a visa.
- Similarly, UAE nationals with diplomatic or official credentials are granted visa-free entry at all Pakistani airports.
- The visa waiver is aimed at boosting high-level exchanges, facilitating smooth governmental coordination, and enhancing people-to-people contacts.
This agreement is a testament to the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, and a step forward in facilitating greater connectivity and cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
